| Battery Waste Rules 2025 | 2025 | The Battery Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2025, notified as S.O. 958(E) on 24 February 2025, amended Schedule I of the 2022 Rules. They set out barcode/QR-code and product-brochure provisions for communicating a producer’s registration number, subject to written information to CPCB. They also specify that the respective Cd or Pb symbol is not required at concentrations at or below 0.002% cadmium or 0.004% lead by weight: 20 ppm and 40 ppm respectively. | Battery governance continues after a storage device leaves service. Identifying the responsible producer assists traceability, but a registration label is not evidence that a particular battery has already been collected or recycled. The concentration limits concern chemical-symbol marking, not a declaration that the battery is harmless. A small marking exemption should therefore not be mistaken for release from the wider waste-management framework or proof of a successful material-recovery process. |
