Graphene — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

One layer, honeycomb carbon. Graphite stacks layers; diamond has a different network. Mobility is not a band gap. Graphene oxide and composites require their own characterisation. Nobel Physics: 2010, Geim and Novoselov.

2-Minute Revision

Graphene's atomic arrangement motivates interest in charge transport and mechanical behaviour. Real measurements depend on defects, substrates and device integration. The 2004 experimental work and 2010 Nobel award are historical anchors.

A graphene-containing composite is not an ideal isolated sheet, and oxide-related materials differ chemically. Two grams in a hundred-gram final composite is two percent. Fifty-to-sixty is a twenty-percent improvement under the specified test, not proof of identical performance in another environment.

5-Minute Revision

Compare the structures of graphene, graphite and diamond. Then explain why high mobility does not settle a conventional switch's on–off requirement. Calculate additive fraction from two grams plus ninety-eight grams and strength improvement from fifty to sixty. State the denominator in each calculation. Finish by listing the additional evidence needed to move from a laboratory bending test to an outdoor product's long-term performance.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

Structure, specimen, system: identify the atomic arrangement, the tested material and the finished application separately.
