Climate Change Mitigation — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

Revision checked 17 October 2026.

  • Mitigation addresses emissions and removals.
  • Adaptation addresses vulnerability.
  • Intensity can fall while totals rise.
  • Capacity is not generation.
  • Test baseline, boundary and verification.

2-Minute Revision

Mitigation can change demand, efficiency, supply and removals. Different gases require different source measures. Assess avoided emissions against a baseline and removals for storage and reversal. NDCs connect national commitments with an international framework; domestic implementation and measured outcomes must still be evaluated. A net-zero claim needs a transparent boundary and balance.

5-Minute Revision

Original evaluation drill: A municipality reports more efficient lighting and a larger illuminated area. Explain why the efficiency figure alone cannot establish total electricity savings. Request activity and energy data before calculating emissions implications. Then assess a separate tree-storage claim for baseline, measurement and reversal. Keep implementation outputs, gross emissions reductions and removals separate so that the final climate claim can be checked.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

BOUND: Baseline; Output and activity; Units; Net versus gross; Defined boundary.
