Unorganized Sector Workers — Prelims Strategy
Prelims Strategy
Focus on category and entitlement traps. A person can be employed while working in the unorganised sector; the term is not a synonym for unemployment. Unorganised work is not confined to agriculture or villages. Gig work and platform work have distinct definitions, so the presence of irregular hours alone does not settle the category.
For eShram, separate identification through a worker record from eligibility under an individual scheme. A UAN helps organise information but does not mean that a fixed cash payment follows registration. If a question states a benefit, check the scheme, conditions and date instead of accepting the inference from the database name.
Revise the Social Security Code's framework for schemes and registration alongside the 2025 implementation milestone. A statutory power to notify a scheme and an already operational scheme are different facts. For mobility questions, portability means practical continuity of an applicable benefit across locations; it is more demanding than merely being able to view the same record online.
