It repeals and replaces laws like the Factories Act, 1948; Mines Act, 1952; Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970; and Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, among others.	This consolidation aims to simplify the complex and fragmented regulatory landscape, expand the coverage of OSH provisions to a wider range of establishments and workers (including gig and platform workers for the first time), streamline compliance, and enhance worker protection by introducing uniform standards and stronger enforcement mechanisms. It represents a paradigm shift towards a more comprehensive and proactive OSH framework in India.
