Disaster Displacement — Revision Notes

Updated 19 Oct 2026

⚡ 30-Second Revision

Internal means within international borders. People, movements and year-end stock differ. Evacuation protects immediately; a durable solution needs safe, informed and sustainable conditions. Read amended relief provisions, not obsolete section numbers.

2-Minute Revision

Trace risk reduction, evacuation, protection during displacement and recovery. Repeated movement can raise the event count without increasing distinct people. Reports need explicit observation years, causes and geography. The 2025 Indian amendments place national relief-guideline functions in section 6(2)(w) and State guidelines in section 18(2)(o). UN principles provide a protection lens. Evaluate return or settlement through living conditions and participation rather than a closed register.

5-Minute Revision

Start with 100 people evacuated and 40 of them moved again: record 140 movements and 100 distinct people. If a later verified count finds 30 still displaced, record that separately with its date. Now assess a proposed relocation site with stronger buildings but longer journeys to work and school. List the information and consultation needed before claiming a durable solution, and explain why transport completion alone is insufficient.

Vyyuha Quick Recall

People, moves, conditions: count identities and events separately, then test the conditions of the proposed solution.
