Internet of Things — Revision Notes
⚡ 30-Second Revision
- Checked 18 October 2026.
- NISTIR 8259A (May 2020): identification, configuration, data protection, logical access, software update, state awareness.
- Sensor measures; actuator changes.
- More readings do not remove calibration bias.
2-Minute Revision
Follow physical quantity → sensor → communication → processing → decision or actuator. Check measurement quality and timing before trusting a dashboard. Security includes manageable configuration, limited interfaces, protected data and supported updates. Assign maintenance and response responsibilities; judge the system by a verified service outcome rather than device count.
5-Minute Revision
Draw a tank-level monitoring system and label sensor, gateway, processor and valve actuator. Explain the effect of a sensor reading consistently two units too high. Choose a safe response to communication loss and identify which team owns calibration, software updates and investigation of abnormal readings.
