Green Buildings — Mains Strategy

Mains Strategy

Introduce green buildings as a life-cycle and service-performance question. This gives room to discuss materials, operation and occupant needs without reducing the answer to equipment or certification. A suitable opening links environmental efficiency with a usable and comfortable built environment.

Organise the body around demand reduction, efficient services, appropriate supply and verification. Explain a climate-dependent trade-off, such as daylight versus heat gain and glare. Use a worked metric: one hundred thousand annual kilowatt-hours across one thousand square metres yields an intensity of one hundred. State why comparable area, use and energy boundaries matter.

Add embodied impacts, water and waste, then name BEE's 2024 commercial and residential references. Distinguish code publication from the provisions applicable to a particular project. A certificate or model can inform assessment but does not guarantee actual performance indefinitely. Conclude with commissioning, measurement and maintenance that sustain the required service. This makes the answer an implementation argument supported by evidence rather than a list of desirable features.
