Practice calculating pKapK_a from KaK_a and vice-versa. For numerical problems, always write down the given values clearly, identify the correct formula, substitute carefully, and pay attention to units and significant figures.

Trap options often involve misplacing the numerator/denominator in the log term, confusing pKapK_a with pKbpK_b, or forgetting to convert pOH to pH. For conceptual questions, focus on the mechanism of buffer action (how it neutralizes added H+^+ or OH^-), the factors affecting buffer capacity (concentrations), and buffer range (pKa±1pK_a \pm 1).

Always read the question carefully to determine if it's asking for pH, pOH, or a specific component ratio.
